10 Reasons to Be a Dot Dot Smile Merchandiser
1.
Amazing Dresses for your little girls
The First Reason I started selling
Dot Dot Smile Dresses is because I fell in love with the dresses myself. These dresses were lifechanging for us and I wanted
a ton for my little girls, but I wanted them for wholesale not retail. These dresses made getting dressed so easy for
my little girl with clothing sensitives. We went from fighting nearly every day
about clothes to literally NEVER fighting about what she was going to
wear. It was incredibly freeing. Also the never ending hunt for clothes that didn't rub the wrong way was OVER. Finally. If you have a kiddo with clothing sensitivities you know what I
am talking about here. Also, my other girls loved
the dresses. My 5 year old loved the twirl and seeing her twirl everywhere we went was the cutest thing ever. My 3 year old loved the prints especially the animal ones. I loved the dresses for my own reasons. First, my
kiddos went from looking like ragamuffins in hand-me-downs to looking like
they were dressed from a fine children’s boutique literally overnight. I also loved
the dresses, because they are super hard to stain. Kids can play in the mud and get food on the
dresses when they are eating, and with a little shout and wash even days later
and dresses come out looking like new!
2.
Low Start up Costs
I like to say I am frugal, but people I am cheap and I don't like loosing money. So when I found out the start up initial cost to open your own Dot Dot Smile Boutique was only $475, I was hooked. Really, what other small business
can you start up for $475?!?! I think
this is what really sealed the deal for me. You just order your initial 25 dresses and pay the annual merchandiser
fee of $50, register your business with your state and county offices and voila your own boutique (this varies by state so check with your accountant for official laws). I was like, I can start my own children’s
boutique for $475??? I’m in. In reality the startup cost is slightly
higher than $450, because in addition to the dresses you will need a dress rack (~$45),
a scale(~$10), and (~$50)mailing supplies (if you plan on shipping) and a few other things of your choosing like thank you notes for customers if you want to do things like that. After you sell you first inventory,
then you can order business cards and all the other fun goodies that will make
your shop awesome and build it up over that first year. One
of the cool things I have learned doing this is that Paypal will send you a credit card
reader for FREE. It is really fun to
figure out how it all the business things work.
3.
You
get to do this business with your kiddos
The second reason that drew me to Dot Dot Smile was that this was something I would get to do with my kids. Most of the merchandisers were moms just like me, and many kids participate in sales, by helping their mom’s show the dresses. Kids help in all different kinds of ways in this business, and its one thing I absolutely LOVE about this business. While your kiddos are helping, they are also learning what it’s like to run a business, how to sort inventory, and how to market and sell it. Things that may serve them well later in life. When you think about the possibilities of all that you can teach your kids through this real life business experience its kind of mind blowing. I know several homeschool moms who teach their daughters the accounting of the business, and I know one who let her daughter log all the inventory. It can be a fabulous learning opportunity for them, and they get to work right along side of you, their best and most important teacher.
4.
You
are your own boss and set your own hours
I love this part of being a
merchandiser. You can grow as fast or as
slow as you want. Because the brand is
so new, many people still haven’t heard about it yet, your market opportunities are AMAZING. You can run your business exactly how you want to. If you only want to put in a
few hours every other month when you order a box for you and your friends to split
you can do that!!!!! But if you want to own your own children’s boutique with thousands of customers, you can do that too!!! All the opportunities with this are amazing, and its something I think that makes this company very unique.
5.
Team
Support
I mean really, think about
it. If you open your own independent small
business (bakery, boutique, craft making, etc) you are all by yourself. You are
a one man show and you have to learn how to do everything on your own. When you sign up to become a merchandiser with Dot Dot Smile, you are placed on a team. Within that team are FB group pages
which have trainings on everything from how to do FB live sales, to how to take
pictures, to how to grow your marketing strategies, to product photo
sharing. The team aspect of this is amazing,
and the network you will build is incredible. Besides all the training, your upline is your direct mentor who will help guide you through your set up process. You can ask any kind of business question to them, and they will help guide you in the right direction to finding the answer. They also will support your social medial
posts as you get started. After being a
merchandiser for a while, this is what I think contributes to many people’s success
in this business. And I mean really, who gets to open a small business with a
group of mentors behind them encouraging them all the way.
6.
You
get to create your own beautiful boutique
You get to create
your own beautiful boutique, the kind that you walk in and think “I love being in this magical place” and you get to work there every day. Put your computer in your boutique and create
a magical place in the corner of your home or a spare room to set up your
dresses and work.
7.
Friends, Teammates, and Coworkers
Stay at home mummying can be
pretty isolating. You go from having a ton
of coworkers and a huge network of friends outside your home to spending the majority of your time inside your home doing all the responsibilities
that are required to meet the needs of your sweet little ones, and while rewarding in it's own way, your network can dwindle, because many of the necessary
tasks require you to be inside your house instead of outside it. Joining Dot Dot Smile gave me a really great
new newtwork of co-business owners and coworkers all over the country. We are all working on the same kinds of
projects and have similar goals in common.
I had forgotten how much fun it can be to have coworkers. I have met so many great women doing this
that I wouldn’t trade for the world.
8.
Community
Not only do you build
community within the Dot Dot Smile network, but you build community in the
local community you live in. People will
probably find you when you are a merchandiser, word will spread among your
friends about these amazing dresses, and soon you will be getting to know lots
of friends of friends. Plus you will
have the opportunity to give back to your community through your business. I have started supporting local schools
through dress sales. Not only is it super fulfilling
to be able to help a schools raise funds for projects like playground improvements, it gives my business visibility and gets the word
out about my business to people who may not be in my usual circles. I love knowing more people in my community
through this business.
9.
You
always bring AMAZING gifts to birthday parties
This is for REAL. You are never running to target or Walmart AGAIN to get a last minute little girl birthday
gift, and you are saving money in the process because dresses wholesale anywhere
from $10-17. And you have them right in your house. I used to ALWAYS put this off until the last
minute and spend an hour or so of my Saturday running to get a last minute
gift. Now, I just wrap up a dress and spend my Saturday
morning drinking my coffee. This problem
for me is solved, and with three daughters it is a big quality of life improvement
for my Saturdays.
10.
The
income potential is all about what you want to put in.
Like I mentioned above about
the hours, your income potential is all about the amount of time you want to
put into it. Like starting any business,
this is a for real small business, and you will have to put in time to build
your customer base, but these dresses have some sort of crack in them, and once
customers find them, they tend to be hooked and become repeat customers. Build a team here, and you can really reap rewards exponentially in the company.
11.
Learn
new skills and how to take awesome photos of your kiddos and dresses.
Not only do you make money in
this business, but the real life skills that you will learn doing this are
incredible. It's worth $475 for the real life business experience you get doing this. You will learn photography,
and accounting, marketing, social media, inventory, etc. All things that will be incredibly valuable
to you throughout your life, even if you decide later down the line to change
directions. Having these tools behind
you and having the experience of starting your own small business will make you
even more marketable for your future.
12.
I have this theory that this would make an
awesome business for women in college.
I haven’t tested it out yet,
but I can’t wait for my first college student to sign up so that I can test out
my theory. College students are a whiz a social media, great a photography
already, and probably super at video. And time they have the time that us moms
don’t have. Plus they will have the
network of new young moms from their college days not too long after they all graduate.
Have I convinced you yet??? Join our team of awesome women. Team Rockstar Squad!!! I can help you sign up if you are interested. Have more questions?? Contact me, Tiffany Moffett. I am happy to answer them!
